Create the first wharf layout

Start with a simple grid, then shape it in Edit layout as the structure is discovered.

Wharf setup

Pier Lines run along the wharf. Rows run transverse to the wharf.
Changing this default does not overwrite existing materials. Components have their own defaults below.
Components shown at each stopping location
Select up to 8 compact rows. Shared items use Pier Line or Bay + Row identity. Pile items have their own identity. Names describe actual items, not just categories.
Initially numbered 1, 2, 3... You can replace them with 122W, 121W... later.
Initially A, B, C... Z, AA, AB...
1 - 7. Current colours: 1 green, 7 red. You can reverse this in Office labels / advanced.

Backup / export

Everything saves on this device as you work. A backup file is your copy outside the device and browser. Cloud sync (if set up) uploads to WGA's Azure storage.

The .zip backup holds project.json, the ratings CSV, the plan drawing and every photo and video as separate files. Older v6 .json backups can still be restored.

GPS capture & 2D location scale

GPS captures the device / boat position. Only use an anchor when its coordinates represent the selected pile. Estimated pile positions are not surveyed coordinates.

Calibration anchors

Two well-separated anchors align and uniformly scale the schematic. A third anchor on a different Row calibrates the transverse direction. Match all anchors to known physical pile locations.
Use manual coordinates if GPS is unavailable. GPS needs location permission and normally an HTTPS page.

Components at this location

Choose the visible items you will assess here. Previously recorded ratings are retained when a row is hidden.

Set pile location on map

Tap to place a pin; drag the pin to adjust. Drag elsewhere to move the map. Saving assigns this pile's location, independently of device GPS.
Online basemap
The basemap needs internet. Coordinates and ratings save locally. A placed pin is approximate, not a survey measurement.
